There is a way between voice and presence where information flows.
In disciplined silence it opens.  In wandering talk it closes.

Holistic Psychotherapy Sessions

What is Holistic Psychotherapy?

Holistic Psychotherapy is a powerful and efficient integrative form of  therapy that works to bring about renewal at all levels of being.  Recognizing that we are body, mind and spirit, Holistic Psychotherapy pulls from a diversity of conventional and contemporary therapies, including Traditional Talk Therapy, Clarity Breathwork, Life Coaching, Expressive Arts Therapy, Hakomi and Hypnotherapy.

Who would benefit?

Anyone dealing with the normal complexities of life would benefit.  Holistic Psychotherapy is a powerful transformational process that helps you change the way you think and do life.  From this work you can gain internal peace, improve the quality of your communication and relationships, find clarity regarding major life decisions and move forward in your life with deeper self love and compassion for all of life.

Tell me more about each of these therapies used in Holistic Psychotherapy.

Clarity Breathwork: Breathwork is a body based psychotherapy that uses a gentle, continuous breath to help uncover and remove limiting thoughts that get in the way of living life to its fullest. Breathwork is based upon several main assumptions:  We are whole and complete now.  Thought is creative - what we think we bring into reality.  Breath is one of the most healing connections to life.

Life CoachingA questioning process that helps the client set concrete goals, create a plan with next steps, and move into action to bring those goals into reality.

Expressive Arts:  The use of creative expressions such as journaling, collaging, movement and other artistic processes to facilitate insight and healing.

Hakomi:  A gentle, body-centered form of psychotherapy developed by psychologist Ron Kurtz, a practicing Buddhist and body-mind practitioner, that works to change limiting memories, body impressions, emotional imprints, habitual thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes that interfere with authentic self knowing and living.  Hakomi is a Hopi Indian word that can be translated as “Who are you?”

Hypnotherapy A type of therapy that uses visualization, touch and/or sound to assist clients in accessing patterns, habits, thoughts, visions, traumas, dreams, and old experiences held in their sub or unconscious mind.  In a state of profound relaxation, the client can understand the specific causes of problems and then release and transform them.

Traditional Psychotherapy A form of therapy that uses talk and indepth explorations of family history, past events, current life experiences and the therapist/client relationship to bring about increased awareness and wellbeing.

What does a typical session look like?

Since each client is unique, and the constant in life is change, each session will look different.  Some sessions will include more talking as exploration, and thus feel more mental or concrete. Some sessions might feel more trancelike as we enter into deeper realms of the unconscious through the body and breath.  Clients report that most often they leave the sessions with a greater sense of clarity and direction to move forward with their lives.  Additionally, to encourage accountability and deepen integration, I often end sessions with an invitation to continue the work outside with homework such as journaling, reading or other expressive arts.

Where to we start?

Intake Session:  The intake session explores the questions:  What do you want to get from the sessions?  What is your history in terms of family, major life experiences and beliefs hold regarding those experiences?  Who are you and what is going on in your life right now?  What are your goals for your life?

Most clients choose to create a specific set of goals, and then meet weekly on an ongoing basis until the goals are met.  However, some clients might work best with longer bi-weekly or even periodic intensive sessions.  The pacing will be what is best for you.  Also, most clients find that an average of 10 sessions provides remarkably quick, deep and lasting life changes.
